What are the real crime statistics? Are the streets of the Exchange District safe? Why do the people living in the burbs think we are living in a high crime area full of risk?
This meeting will focus on the truth. We will look at the crime stats, hear from the Winnipeg Police Service on what is happening on the streets and will talk about practical things we can all do to offer further protection.
Our guest speaker is
Sergeant
Darrall Randy Kotchon of the Winnipeg Police Service.
Sergeant Kotchon, a 23 year veteran police officer currently works in Division #11 Community Support Unit.
Bio
: A Sergeant for 2 years in general patrol downtown and now in community support. Sgt. Kotchon has worked as a patrol sergeant in 5 uniform districts, 2 districts as a community constable, as a detective in child abuse and stolen auto investigations and worked in Community relations in business crime prevention and school resource unit. He is a member of the Diversity Resource team, a police representative on Aboriginal Advisory Council and board member on the Mayor's Citizen Equity Committee. Darrall is married to a fire fighter with WFPS and they have two children.
We will also hear from Josiah Cook and Lisa Knievel
